Default Frozen Isle Split

I had a question about the frozen isle. We are looking to do a 2 man gank while the other 6 maintain the flag stand. I know a sin is good for it, but what kind of builds/strategies should we take?

burning arrow ranger / Escape ranger can sologank.

Keep in mind that having control over the gate locks is a very important point there.

depends on how you decide to build this split team of yours. if you go with one hard-hitting character (such as an assassin), you'll want your second ganker to be more of a support-type, such as a SoR/water ele.

most top guilds tend to go with a more balanced approach: a burning arrow ranger by itself, or they'll split an axe warrior if neccessary. this approach obviously won't give you the same results as a hard gank squad, but it is more adaptable in that you'll have characters that won't be totally useless at the stand if you decide not to split.

you may even want to consider a 5/3 split, with the 3 being a monk, and two sins, one with SP, and one with shattering assault (gg SoR runners). The monk will run return, so he can teleport in after the SP sin, and is usually ZB.

The idea of having 2 people split is bad.
Running a build that has the potential to split is far better than having a build dedicated to splitting.
Having several characters that can split based on the response to your initial split is what makes the difference between good splitting and easy splitting.

When designing split characters you will need to take into consideration:

B-Surge Eles
SoR Water Eles
Crip Shot Rangers
Monks
Assassins (generally SP ones)

as any possible response. There are more but those are likely to be the most common ones. You'll need to figure out what you can send to deal with each of those characters, and how you will be able to collapse effectively if one does go back and you feel its the right time to push at the flag.

However, theorycrafting can only go so far and you'll definately want to practise your responses and counter-responses.

²nd vanquishers post.

A split team's succes is based upon the communication between the main and the split team. Try to be as informative and clear as possible about the other team sending ppl back; what they are sending back; if you are having problems with certain characters and so on and so on ....

Furthermore a split teams success comes from being able to:

-Pose enough of a threat to quickly kill npc's and have the other team panic
-Mobility!!!
-Being able to create a favourable imbalance at either sides of the map for you to either force a kill or gain morale

Take these notes as something to consider when making your build.

Try either 2 Sins and a monk, or 1 sin, 1 BA, 1 Monk (or Rit).
